Sanitary sewer smoke testing

On Tuesday, May 10, at 7 a.m. the Public Works Sewer Utility will perform smoke testing on a sanitary sewer main located in the alley between Broadway and Walnut Street, from Eighth to Ninth Street. A white smoke, which is NON-TOXIC, HARMLESS, HAS NO ODOR AND CREATES NO FIRE HAZARD, will be mechanically blown into a sanitary sewer manhole located on Eighth Street between Broadway and Walnut. The smoke may come from vent stacks on the roof of adjacent buildings or from adjacent manholes. The smoke testing is expected to be completed by 8 a.m. the same day, weather permitting.
