Pitch Slam for New Entrepreneurs

Are you an up-and-coming entreprenuer interested in getting feedback on your idea?  Then come join the Innovate!2010 Pitch Slam!

The Donald W. Reynolds Journalism Institute is partnering with market intelligence and advisory firm, Guidewire Group, on the Innovate!2010 global competition to identify and promote up-and-coming technology and media startups.

The two-day workshop and event will include a student-only workshop and pitch review, a professional pitch slam, guest speakers on creating a successful business, and a review of local opportunities to help get your idea off the ground.  Day one will be pitches while day two will be filled with presenters and experts from Mizzou and Columbia. You will hear how others have established success, learn about campus resources and discover the insider's knowledge about upcoming opportunities.

A morning student-only workshop will give student entrepreneurs the opportunity to work with experts on creating a pitch and marketing their idea. In addition, the top student pitch advances to the afternoon Pitch Slam and wins a trip to a National Pitch Slam, meeting other successful start-ups. Students should apply at: http://rjistudentapp.eventbrite.com.

The afternoon Professional Pitch Slam will feature 10 to 12 local startup executives who will deliver rapid-fire pitches in front of a panel of expert judges and audience members. Each startup will be evaluated using Guidewire Group's proprietary G/Score™ assessment methodology. Professionals should apply at: http://innovate2010app.eventbrite.com.

The Professional Pitch Slam is free to apply and, if selected, your startup will automatically be named a semi-finalist in the Innovate!2010 program - giving you the opportunity to compete for a spot on Guidewire Group's prestigious top 100 list known as the Innovate!100.
