Board and Commission Vacancies

Vacancies available on a number of downtown-related boards and commissions:

DOWNTOWN COLUMBIA LEADERSHIP COUNCIL 
3 vacancies with terms to expire May 1, 2011 and May 1, 2012 and May 1, 2013.  Two members must be representatives of recognized neighborhood associations and must submit a letter from an officer of the neighborhood association certifying he/she has been designated by the association as its representative, and one must reside in the expanded downtown development concept plan and study area as defined in the “Downtown Columbia Leadership Council Interim Report” dated May, 2009.  Members shall review the boundaries of an expanded downtown development area and work with others in creating a comprehensive downtown strategic plan.  Members may also work on other projects as requested by Council.  Monthly meetings held on the fourth Monday of the month at 4:00 p.m.  


TAX INCREMENT FINANCING COMMISSION 
2 vacancies with terms to expire September 1, 2014.  The Commission serves as an advisory body to the City Council as it relates to the consideration of tax increment financing proposals submitted by interested parties or initiated by any public agency in accordance with the Real Property Tax Increment Allocation Redevelopment Act. Meetings held on call.  (Mayor’s Appointment with the Consent of the City Council) 
  
HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION
3 vacancies with terms to expire September 1, 2013.  One must have a background and expertise in historic preservation, one must have a background and expertise as a real estate investor, and one must have an interest in historic preservation and represent disciplines such as architecture, design, law, real estate appraisal, construction/general contracting or be a layperson.  The Commission makes recommendations to the Council regarding historically significant structures.  Monthly meetings held on the first Tuesday of the month at 7:00 p.m.
