What is a Hospitality Zone?

A Hospitality Zone is a business-friendly approach to managing a late-night entertainment district that emphasizes a safe and welcoming atmosphere for a wide range of customers.

The goal is not just to increase safety and cleanliness but to increase economic vitality and strengthen the tax base.

Elements of a Hospitality Zone may include:

  • Sidewalk cafes, musicians or vendors
  • Wide range of music and entertainment
  • Diverse activities, such as increased shopping or dining
  • Block parties and outdoor concerts
  • Downtown Ambassadors or safety teams
  • Community policing (working with bar owners to prevent problems)
  • Self-enforcement of liquor laws and other rules
  • Management of trash, traffic and sanitation
  • Increased transportation options
